Hastings Community Theatre The Little Mermaid Auditions
Hastings Community Theatre and HCT Kids will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid this summer at Hastings Community Theatre. Partially funded by a grant from the Hastings Community Foundation, the summer youth musical will be presented July 10-13, 2013. Auditions are open to students who have finished 2nd grade through students who have just finished 8th grade and will be held at Hastings Community Theatre Monday, May 20 beginning at 6:00pm. Call backs will be held May 21.
Rehearsals will be held at the theatre from 5:30 to 7:30 Mondays through Thursdays beginning May 23. Those who receive leading roles and speaking parts will need to be available for every rehearsal. Chorus members will rehearse one to two nights per week. Tentative rehearsal schedules will be available at auditions. Those who audition are asked to bring a list of possible scheduling conflicts.
Parts are available for all those who audition. Students should have a short song prepared to sing.

A Midsummer Night’s Trail Run to be held in Hastings
Registration for the Third Annual A Midsummer Night's Trail Run (MNTR) opens April 1. With a race date of July 13, 2013, this unique running event challenges runners of all abilities to "kick the conformity" of the Saturday morning 5K and compete in a 4-mile nighttime trail run through beautiful Prairie Lake Recreation Area.
Precisely at 9:04PM the event kicks off, with participants navigating a unique off-road course through nature at night. Participants are encouraged to bring their own headlamp or flashlight to light their path in the later stages of the race.
“Last year’s pool of runners hailed from over forty Nebraskan cities and several surrounding states,” commented founder Jed Kautz, “and we expect to have a record-breaking number of participants this year. Plus we’ve added distance as a fun challenge for returners and newbies alike.”
Participants receive a limited edition 2013 Dri-Fit Technical shirt, post-race party with live entertainment, plus drawings and giveaways from a few awesome sponsors. Proceeds benefit expansion of Hastings’ Pioneer Spirit Trail. |
