Have Santa Call Your Kids|
The City of Hastings Parks & Recreation Department will be making Santa Calls to children on December 10th and 12th. The calling will take place between 6pm and 8pm. Parents who want to sign their child up will need to fill out a registration form. Registration forms are available at the Parks & Recreation office. The deadline to register will be December 12th at 5pm.

National Weather Service Weather Photos Wanted|
Calling all weather photos for 2013! National Weather Service Hastings is hosting a 2013, end-of-year Facebook photo contest. Throughout December, you can submit your favorite weather related photo directly to our Facebook page. All the photos will be posted to a photo album on January 1, 2014. Fans will vote for the best photos between January 1 and January 15, 2014 to determine the top three photos. Those three photos will be used as a cover photo on the NWS Hastings Facebook page at some point in 2014.
Here is what the NWS is looking for:
• Weather Related
• From Nebraska or Kansas
• Taken in 2013
• Can be winter, spring, summer or fall
Rules are simple:
• The photo must be an original and be about the weather, astronomy or nature.
• Please include the date and location of your photo.
• Please include the words “This is for the photo contest” on your post.

Stuhr Museum Christmas Past & Present|
From the warmth of a stove fireplace to the carols in the streets, from the smells of baking to the peace of a Christmas gone by, Stuhr Museum’s “Christmas Past and Present” is a holiday experience you can’t find anywhere else. This year’s event runs December 7, 13, 14 & 15 with Members Only night on December 6.
From the soft glow of lanterns to the smells of Christmas cooking to the 19th century decorations around every corner, visitors to Stuhr Museum identify “Christmas Past and Present” as one of the most memorable events on the museum’s schedule. This is the 26th year for the event and Stuhr’s 1890’s Railroad Town will feature dozens of open homes and businesses to explore and visit, the sounds of live music will waft from the rural church, visitors can take a horse-drawn wagon ride around the grounds and Christmas past will be celebrated in many different and memorable ways. Events include:
•Cooking in the Cleary Farmhouse
•Tinsicle making in the Tinsmith Shop
•Paper ring ornaments for your tree at the Boarding House
•Christmas baking in Menck Cabin at the Road Ranche
•Special shopping at the Mercantile
•Children may create their own wooden train in the Planing Mill for $5
•Father Christmas and Bazaar in the Town Hall
•Many, many other events museum wide
Admission is $8 for Adults, $6 for Youth (6-12), and free for children 5 and under. Stuhr Museum and Hastings Museum members are admitted free. Events will be held in multiple buildings across Stuhr Museum’s grounds, both indoors and outdoors, so be sure to dress for the weather. Singing Christmas Tree in Grand Island|
Perhaps the best-know ministry of the Grand Island Evangelical Free Church is the annual Singing Christmas Tree. Through the powerful music and drama, the church shared the story of Jesus with thousands every December.

Tickets must be ordered in advance. Please, no children under the age of 5. Suggested donation for each ticket is $7.
