The Nebraska High School Rodeo finals are in Hastings this weekend. Nearly 150 high school rodeo athletes will compete in ten events. The top four competitors in each event will earn a berth at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Rock Springs, Wyo., July 15-21. Ruth Nichols says that this rodeo has all the big time feel of a professional rodeo. Jaden Clark who’s going to be a Senior at Medicine Valley high school says even though they are all battling in the standings they still support one another, after all they’ve spent the entire season traveling across the state at various rodeo’s. Included in the contestant list this year are area residents Emily Bonifas of Roseland in the barrel racing, and Rhett Nelson of Doniphan in the steer wrestling, tie-down roping and team roping.
